I’m super busy promoting and producing Maine’s first ever comedy arts festival celebration and charity golf tournament this summer in gorgeous Western mountain town, Bethel, Maine. Few people are aware of how many incredibly funny Comics got their start in Maine, there’s something in the water over here. Often when Comics get some time under their belt they either split to NYC or LA for more industry opportunities. While other Comics stay and continue to bust their butts, pummeling Maine audiences with their humor, from Portland to Fort Kent and Rumford to Eastport. Some of the funniest Comics and hardest working, are right here in Maine, driving from Canadian borders to South of the Border (Boston) just to do 10 minutes to get some laughs. This festival is in part to honor those gifted fellow Mainer Comics and introduce Maine to some seriously funny friends from outside the state as well, for one huge weekend of laughs, August 5-7, 2011.
75% of the Comics in the festival are from Maine! I’ve partnered with the kind folks at the The Bethel Inn Resort, in beautiful Western mountain town, Bethel, Maine to host this weekend long event. This Resort is absolutely gorgeous with so much to do. This classic New England resort is surrounded by 200 acres with mountains and lakes on all sides, providing a variety of traditional Inn and luxury townhouse accommodations, offering every possible amenity and activity along with both fine and casual dining. PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF FOR CHARITY WITH YOUR FAVORITE COMIC
The Resort has an 18 hole championship golf course that should not go to waste festival weekend. So we’re also going to be doing something good while we’re there. On Saturday, August 6 we’re having a celebrity Comic charity golf tournament to benefit Make A Wish Foundation of Maine. There will be a Comic on every golf team. You can pay the flat tournament fee and be placed by the festival with a Comic OR you can pay a little extra and tell us who you want to play with. Tournament fees include 18 holes, a golf cart, lunch, and tournament prizes!
You might want to take note, this is not your traditional golf tournament! Besides the fact that all teams will have a professional Comic, there will be a Comic Heckler traveling the course all day to make your serious game of golf.. well, a little lighter. There will be a Heckler Hole and heckling throughout the day is welcomed. Ultimately, the message is, let’s raise some money and make some wishes come true AND don’t take yourself so seriously on the golf course. We welcome all skill levels to this tournament, because many of the Comics have never played a round in their lives. Remember, all proceeds go to Make A Wish!
