Everyone Is A Little Trans To Me

Everyone Is A Little Trans To Me

Okay, so being a Trans man I look at everyone else out there in the world with a different set of lenses. I’m hyper aware of everyone’s presentation of masculinity or femninity around me and like to play games in my head around guessing their biological sex. Besides the regular everyday stuff, i.e. people looking at me funny when they see the “F” on my drivers license, or learning men’s room etiquette, I now look at other PEOPLE with those different lenses.

I look at everyone wondering if they could be Trans too. It’s kind of like when you take your dogs to the park and they are not quite out of the car yet and they spot the other dogs already in the park and they get super excited. It’s always awesome to see similar species out there in the world. When dogs see other dogs they get all excited whining, groaning, tail wagging with anticipation that they might meet them and get to sniff their.. well, so it’s not exactly the same, but you get the idea.

I get excited to see other Trans women and Trans men and I have this internal dialog: “Hey I’m like you, you’re like me, isn’t it cool that we’re like.. you know.. the same?” Many times I’ve looked at bio males or bio females and thought OMG, they could totally be Trans. It wouldn’t be obvious to the untrained eye, but I can spot my own peeps.

Most recently I’ve been logging on here to check my account and I keep seeing this promo ad over and over and I couldn’t figure out why I kept staring at the photo in it. But the ad came up again today for Dana Carvey’s new HBO special and I think I figured it out. I’m really excited about Dana’s new special, I think he’s enormously talented. And here’s the photo from the ad:

Does anyone else see the same thing I do? I think Dana Carvey looks like a Trans woman! THis would be completely awesome because like I said earlier, I think Dana is really talented and we need more representation in the community.

There’s something very Dorothy Hamel about this photo. Anyway, thanks Dana!

Love you, mean it!
