Not Especially Fond of MySpace Spammers

Not Especially Fond of MySpace Spammers

The ones who invite you to be a friend and when you click on their profile that they look interesting or innocent so you accept them. Then once they’re accepted, they put a comment on your page with a link to a cell phone provider or some shit like that. What I am even less fond of is when I try to block them as a user, their default picture no longer links to their profile page.

Well lucky me I used to write code for a living and have a solution for any of you who would like to stop them. Here are the 3 simple steps to do this:

1. If some undesirable left a comment on your page, simply hover over the user’s default photo with your mouse and while hovering there look to the lower-left-hand corner of your browser/screen. You will see a string of code with an account number of that profile in it. It will look something like this:
profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=123456789

2. Write down that number on the end of the string of code on a piece of paper. That is the spammer’s user number on MySpace.

3. Copy this string of code into your browser address bar:
myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=block.blockUser&userID=123456789
and replace the number 123456788 with the number you wrote down and click ENTER/RETURN on your keyboard.

You will be taken to a screen that asks you if you are sure you want to block that user. Approve it and you’re done.

But please do me a favor, do not write me and ask me tech questions about these steps. Ask Tom, he’s the man to ask anything further about this.

Yay! No more spammers!
Love you, mean it!
